Hi, yesterday I installed in a clean partition, Windows Vista 5308. I suppose I have a current hardware to run it (Sempron 2800, 1.5 GB RAM, partition 60Gb to install it, GeForce 6600 128Mb), so I began doing it. After one hour, I got my installation up and running. I created some users to log on. I've installed the sound and modem drivers from the original CD's which came with my hardware. (Yes, dial up modem). Then I configured the internet connection, any trouble at all, updated the malware software (I didn't install an antivirus). So far, the PC was working great, so I decided to install some programs I use. I started by Alcohol 120%, for making CD/DVD images. I installed the software, but when it installed the virtual drive, the PC automatically shut down and restarted. Now, every time I logon (normal way and safe mode), I gets restarted automatically. Anyone knows how to solve this? I wouldn'd like to reinstall everything again...
Thank you very much!!!

Vista 5308 reinitializes automatically after install Alcohol
Sounds like a driver compatibility issue. There is no way to get into the OS, so reinstall sounds like the best idea. -- -- Andre Windows Connect | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Vista seems to have trouble with virtual drives (see the discussions about activation), and Alcohol installs the driver for one. One of the problems with the NT platform, and now Vista, is that unlike the DOS-based systems you can't individually allow or block each driver's loading. Maybe this could be a new startup feature, add a "controlled" mode to safe and normal modes. -- Pierre Szwarc Paris, France PGP key ID 0x75B5779B ------------------------------------------------ Multitasking: Reading in the bathroom ! ------------------------------------------------
